BreastFeeding Information and Assistance
Certified lactation educators (CLE) are available to provide breastfeeding support. They are available to assist women who are interested in breastfeeding, new mothers and women who are interested in continuing breastfeeding while returning to work or school.

Cribs For Kids
Infants needs a safe place to sleep. Cribs for Kids is a safe-sleep education program for families to help reduce the risk of injury and death of infants due to unsafe sleep environments. Families who qualify for this program and complete an education program can receive a Graco Pac-N-Play for a fee.
Newborn Postpartum Home Visits
Taylor County’s Health Department Newborn Postpartum Home Visits Program is provided to all Taylor County residents on a voluntary basis to assist new moms after the birth of their child. Visits are arranged at home for convenience and personal one-on-one attention. An assessment of the mother and baby is completed to identify and address any health concerns. A variety of health and parenting topics are discussed, including caring for the newborn, nutritional needs and feeding, safety issues, family planning options, breastfeeding, postpartum depression and development of the newborn.
Parenting the First Year Newsletter
Becoming a parent is an exciting change in your life, but it can be a stressful and trying time, too. To answer questions new parents might have, all residents of Taylor County can receive “Parenting the First Year” and “Parenting the Second and Third Year” newsletters free by mail. These newsletters are provided by the Taylor County UW-Extension Office. The newsletters, sponsored by Taylor County and the Medford Kiwanis, contain the latest information on child development, child guidance, language development, nutrition, health, safety, child care, changes in family life and much more. Well Child /Preschool/Kindergarten Screenings and Camp Physicals
A registered nurse provides a physical exam and includes information related to growth and development, environmental issues, safety, nutrition, and immunizations. Referrals can be made to physicians, dentists, etc upon requests of the parent. These exams can be provided for a fee.
