Grazing Program

April is Grassland Month in Taylor County
The County recognizes the importance of grassland habitat and wishes to preserve the beauty and biological diversity by promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Taylor County is included in the Central Wisconsin Grassland Conservation Area. The CWGCA is an area managed to benefit grassland-dependent species.

No-Till Drill Rental
There is a 10’ Great Plains no-till drill available for rent. The cost is $60 per farm plus $6/acre. Be sure to get on the list for spring use. Payment, along with a signed rental agreement form, must be in before use.notill

Technical Assistance
Bob Brandt, Grazing Consultant, is available for managed grazing assistance. Bob has been a certified grazing planner since 2006 and to date has helped over 250 farmers incorporate managed grazing into their operations in north central and northern Wisconsin. Bob was a dairy farmer for 40 years and he and his wife currently operate a beef and certified organic crop farm utilizing the practice of managed grazing on their farm located in southern Marathon County.

Bob is currently serves farmers in Taylor and Price Counties through the LCD and NRCS, and farmers on the Mill Creek Watershed through Golden Sands RC&D.
